Alexandros Astaras received his B.A. degree in Physics from Oberlin College, Oberlin, OH, in 1995 and his PhD degree from the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, U.K. in 2004. Currenly he is a Research Associate in Biomedical Engineering at the Medical Informatics Lab, Medical School, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, as well as a part-time lecturer in Electronics at the Department of Automation, Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki, Greece. His research interests revolve around biomedical diagnostics, wireless micro-instrumentation, hardware implementations of artificial neural networks, and mixed signal system-on-chip VLSI design.
