Ana Lilia Laureano-Cruces was born in Mexico City. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, a Master’s degree in Computer Sciences, and a Doctoral degree in Science at UNAM. She has been a full-time professor at Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana since 1987. She has more than 50 publications in the field of artificial intelligence. Between 1998 and 2000, she was a guest researcher at the Departamento de Sistemas del Instituto de Automática Industrial del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas de ESPAÑA en Madrid. Currently on sabbatical research visit from October 2011 Until April 2013, at Laboratoire Informatique d'Avignon / Université d'Avignon et des Pays de Vaucluse, FRANCE. Studying artificial consciousness from the perspective of the emotions. Her principal research areas are: Multi-Agent Systems, Intelligent Systems applied to Education, Expert Systems, Knowledge Representation and Affective Computing.
